Heavy Rain – Review
It’s hard to try and sum up this game, as in my opinion there are some good points but a lot of bad points.

Heavy rain, is in no way an action game. It’s a very dark, slow moving thriller. The main character, Ethan Mars, is investigating the disappearance of his son, who was taken from him by the mysterious origami killer. You also control another three characters, who at first seem unrelated, but like a Guy Ritchy movie, they all seem to be drawn to the same case.
Unlike most games, heavy Rain allows you to decide the next move. You can choose whether you want to save someone from being shot, you can choose if you want to speak to someone – and in turn what to ask that person. In fact even characters you are using can die if the right choice isn’t made.
Heavy Rain introduces a new way to control you characters. On screen prompts will let you know, what you need to press to make the right move. For example, if you want to open your car door, you have to move the analogue stick in a certain direction. If you want to turn on a tap, again, you will be prompted to mover the analogue stick in a certain direction, and so on. This was by far, the biggest let down of the game. It slows down, what is already a slow moving game .
To me, Heavy Rain, was like a average thriller that last 15 hours!!
Likes – The graphics at times are stunning, it does feel like you are watching a movie. The option to choose how your character interacts with conversation and actions.
Dislikes – Movement controls are at some times unnessessary. Walking in particular isn’t very fluid. It’s hard to just walk in a straight line, as you have to press down R2 and use the analogue stick. It’s also very slow moving. Some of the plot lines depending in which direction you go, won’t be explained, leaving you confused.
Overall – Just rent a movie about a kidnapping! 6 / 10
