Modnation Racers – Review
This game WAY surpassed my expectations. I thought it was going to be a slow, cutesy , PG friendly go-karting game that i’d just test for 5 minutes and easily summerise. It was the complete opposite!
Comparisons can be made to Mario Kart, but that really is only down to the fact you race small karts, with oversized bodies. However instead of throwing banana skins or spilling oil, in Modnation you fire missiles, sonic booms and lightning bolts. Not only that, you get to taunt other racers by flipping the bird and shouting abuse – Not Very Mario Kart.
Away from the game play, Modnation really comes into its own, in the create section. You get to fully design your own Mod(the little character you use), from head to toe. From plain and normal to crazy and outrageous. It’s not only your Mod that you get to create and design, you can fully design your car/kart. Different colour, stickers, accessories etc. Finally, you can create your own practice course. In more serious racing games, doing this can be fairly tedious, but in Modnation it’s really easy and enjoyable.

If you play on your own (like i did) you’re not going to get the full enjoyment out of the game. This game has to be played online against your friends or against other players around the world. You get to see others designs on their cars from Fire engines to the Batmobile.
My only downside of Modnation Racers – was the loading times. I felt as if i spent more time looking at the screen, than actually racing. This did get a bit frustrating, but once it did load up i forgot about it. Until the end of a race – more loading – more waiting.
Summery – Fun game. Great online ability. Brilliant creativity. Bad loading time.
Score 4/5
