Ray Winstone on Plan B’s starring role in ‘The Sweeney’ remake

Ray Winstone is full of praise for his ‘The Sweeney’ co-star Plan B (real name Ben Drew), he even given him another nickname on set.

Ray told The Sun

“Benny is The Wolf. We call him that because of his eyes. They’re intense. He’s lost a load of weight. He looks good. He’s great – one of the best young actors I’ve worked with.  But you can’t compare him to anyone, he’s just Ben.”

Winstone does add though there is still a Hollywood pecking order on the set -  ”Of course we’re not in the same trailer. He’s in the small one.”

The original series- ran from 1975 through to 1978 and also had two feature film spin-offs.  It was all about Regan & Carterm, two members of the Flying Squad – a branch of the Metropolitan Police specialising in tackling armed robbery and violent crime in London.
