Skate 3 – Review

Unlike any game i’ve played and reviewed so far – Skate 3 took a good while for me to get a feel for it. In saying that, i still havn’t fully made up my mind whether i hate this game or like it. I defiantly don’t love it anyway.

Ultimately my indecision stems from the gamer controls. It’s just not as user friendly as it should be. You have to use the analogue stick just to set up a grind or do a flip trick before then pressing a variation of the bumper buttons. Unlike other skating games (cough Tony Hawk, cough) the controls stand in the way of this game being brilliant.

On the upside, the graphics are brilliant. Scratches and cuts appear when you bail on tricks. When editing your player there are tons of different, T-shirts, Boards, Hats, Tattoos, accessories etc to choose from.

There are various different challenges to help you achieve your aim of selling skate boards. You can do, photoshoots or promotional videos, doing grinds and flips to get the shot you need. Death Races are good fun too. Racing along the street in and out of traffic, avoiding pedestrians.

My favourite challenge was the Hall of Meat! Your aim in this challenge was to break as many bones as possible in different scenarios. As seen here.

Finally – The soundtrack is pretty sweet too. A mixture of Rock to Hip Hop. It perfectly matches the gameplay.

Overall – A love it or hate it game. I tried so hard to love this game, i just couldn’t get passed the game controls.

Score 6/10
