Playstation 3 Meltdown: Game Over Man!

UPDATE: THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED AND PS3 USERS CAN NOW LOGIN WITH OUT PROBLEMS TO PSN
Stop! Don’t turn on your PS3! Sony have issued a warning to all playstation owners that they should not turn on their PS3 systems until a critical bug has been fixed. Sony have stated that the bug only affects owners of the traditional PS3 and not those who have PS3-slim consoles that released last year. Users of the console have reported problems such as not being able to connect to the internet to play games and even not being able to play some games offline.
“Doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data,” said Seybold, Sony’s senior director for corporate communications and social media.
The bug appears to be related to the leap year transition, where consoles were not expecting a February with less than 29 days. The problem is similar to the so-called Millenium bug that was predicted to create a global communication meltdown at the turn of midnight in 1999 that never came to pass.
Sony expects a fix in the next 24 hours, but is advising all owners of the console leave the console powered off until further notice.
In the meantime, parenting experts are advising parents to provide alternative forms of entertainment such as reading books, walking, possibly even playing sports outside.
