Spice, spice baby!

Today on the show we’re talking about the hottest chilli ever to be recorded, the Bhut Jolokia.

Scientist say it is more than 1,000 times hotter than other chillis and it measures 1,000,000 Scoville Units, which is the way they measure the spiciness of chillis. Tabasco sauce and jalapeno peppers measure between 2,500 and 8,000 on the Scoville scale, which will give you and idea of just how hot these Bhut Jolokia chillis are.

Make sure you don’t miss our taste test, live on the show today, where I’ll be braving the spice and eating a teaspoon of Tabasco Sauce, Wasabi Sauce and some chopped chillis to see which one is hotter. Hopefully I’ll still have enough tastebuds left to enjoy my dinner… We’ll see.
