Christian Navarro fuming
13 Reasons Why star Christian Navarro is raging at Disney for casting a white actor as a lead in The Little Mermaid.
It was revealed earlier this week that Jonah Hauer-King will play Prince Eric in the remake.
According to reports, Christian was in the running for the role.
As per People, the actor made the remarks in two since deleted posts on Instagram and Twitter.
He shared a picture of Jonah on Instagram with the caption:
'Literally @disney saw a who’s who list of actors of color and STILL went with the white guy.'
African-American actress Halle Bailey is set to star as Ariel in the upcoming movie.
Christian's post continues, 'So much for diversity.'
'I guess two brown leads would have tanked the movie right? Boring.'
The actor then reactivated his Twitter account to tweet about the casting.
'Just came back to say; after months of seeing every person of color they could think of for the role of Prince Eric, @DisneyStudios somehow still cast a white guy.'
He goes on, 'I guess diversity is just a word. And THATS Hollywood.'
'One brown person is enough, two brown leads is unthinkable.'
Christian then deleted the tweets and deactivated his account.
The news comes a couple months after Harry Styles declined the role.
