A federal appeals panel has ruled Brendan Dassey, who was featured in the popular Netflix documentary 'Making a Murderer', should be tried or released from prison.
Dassey was sentenced to life in prison in 2007 when he was just 16 in connection with Teresa Halbach's death two years earlier, which became the subject of the controversial documentary.
In August, it was ruled that investigators coerced Dassey into making a confession and a judge overturned the conviction.
But he was kept behind bars pending the outcome of an appeal.
