Demi Jones on her thyroid cancer diagnosis
Love Island's Demi Jones revealed online trolls accused her of lying about her thyroid cancer diagnosis.
She made the revelation during a chat about her journey so far on Good Morning Britain today.
Demi admitted she doesn't get trolled as much as some other Love Island stars do.
"I've been really lucky that I haven't experience a lot of trolling. I've been really lucky coming out of the villa."
"But there is still unfortunately people like that. Like even with my cancer, I've had still nasty comments."
Shocked by this revelation, host Susanna Reid questioned how people could be so cruel.
The 22-year-old replied, "I know! Saying, 'Oh like, she's lying, she's this, she's that,' and I just woke up and saw it on my Instagram."
"It's ridiculous, but yeah, unfortunately there are people out there like that."
When asked how she responds to such accusations, Demi insisted she never responds to online trolling.
"It's not worth my time," she explained, "and I'm really strong about it anyway, I've always been like that."
"But it makes me sad... it's a really serious thing, I don't want to be going through this."
Demi's DMs however, are also flooded with messages of love and support.
She said she has more messages now than she did when she came out of the Love Island villa.
"So many young girls have been messaging me, saying they've booked appointments or they've chased up appointments because of me."
Demi's diagnosis
Demi shared her cancer diagnosis with the world last week.
She posted a picture of a booklet titled Understanding Thyroid Cancer (Follicular and Papillary) on Instagram Stories.
The reality star captioned the image, 'Hi guys, I got my results today and unfortunately I have Thyroid cancer.'
'The tumour has been removed but I'm now due to have more surgery to remove the rest of my Thyroid.'
She continued, 'I'm staying very positive and I'm a strong girl so I'll be fine, thank you for your love and support always.'
'I'll bounce back stronger,' Demi concluded her post.
