Dermot Kennedy's Irish
Dermot Kennedy has responded to a fan who called him an amazing UK artist on Twitter.
He tweeted his thanks before clearing up that he's actually Irish.
The Twitter user wrote, 'In the Uk we have @DermotKennedy @rhodesmusic and @samfendermusic'
'All 3, unique and amazing vocalists and songwriters'
Dermot simply responded, 'Thank you for the kind words, but as Paul Mescal once said, I’m Irish'

In case you've forgotten, a number of UK media outlets branded Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott British following their Emmy nominations.
This was met with a great deal of anger from the Irish people, who took to social media to set the record straight.
Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlin tweeted, 'Why is this still happening in 2020??'

Just stop calling Irish people British there’s no excuse https://t.co/lg420xt2JC— Nicola Coughlan (@nicolacoughlan) July 28, 2020
Another social media user wrote, 'They’re not British actors. Paul Mescal & Andrew Scott are Irish.'
'There is no similarity, there is no comparison. Irish is Irish. British is British.'
It wasn't long before Paul got involved, and simply tweeted, 'I'm Irish.'
I’m Irish.
