Ben Winston talks Matthew Perry
Director of the Friends reunion, Ben Winston, has responded to speculation around Matthew Perry's health and wellbeing.
After seeing the special, many took to social media to comment on his appearance.
And Winston wishes people were kinder with their words.
The director spoke about Matthew during a chat with The Hollywood Reporter.
He was asked if the Chandler actor is okay, and he replied, 'Yes, he was great.'
Referring to the online speculation, he said, 'People can sometimes just be unkind. I wish they weren’t.'
Ben continued, 'I loved working with him.'
'He’s a brilliantly funny man and I thought he had some great one-liners in the show.'
'I felt just happy and lucky to be in his presence and directing him on something like this.'
Friends executive producer and director Kevin Bright was asked the same question in his interview with THR.
He replied, 'I talked to him. It was great seeing him again.'
'And what people say is what people say.'
He continued, 'I don’t have any to say about that, except it was great to see him.'
'And I think he’s very funny on the show. But yes, I think he’s OK.'
'He seems stronger and better since the last time I saw him, and excited about going forward.'
The Friends reunion was amazing, but there was one thing fans were disappointed by; the absence of iconic cast members like Paul Rudd and Cole Sprouse.
Ben addressed this in a recent interview with The Wrap.
