Jared Leto tried to have Joker cancelled

Jared Leto was apparently less than impressed when he found out about Joaquin Phoenix's Joker.

According to reports, the actor who played the role in the 2016 movie Suicide Squad, felt, 'alienated and upset.'

So much so that he asked his agent to get the movie cancelled.

The Hollywood Reporter says Leto got onto his representatives at CAA when he found out about Todd Phillips' movie.

However, both Leto and Phillips are clients of this particular agency.

It's believed they tried their best to help but ultimately failed.

It wasn't long before the 47-year-old actor left them for rival agency WME.

He also allegedly asked his music manager Irving Azoff to get involved.

When the outlet reached out for comment, Azoff declined.

Leto played the Joker in Suicide Squad

The actor played the role in the 2016 movie Suicide Squad and put a lot of effort into his depiction.

He took the role so seriously that he sent a live rat to his co-star Margot Robbie and bullets to his other co-star Will Smith.

In the final cut, his character only got 10 minutes of screen time.

A source tells the outlet, 'it was never really his movie, but his attempt to 'invent' a place for himself in it backfired.'

A sequel to Suicide Squad is in the works however, Leto will not return.

A source points out, 'How do you play the Joker you established following [Phoenix]?'

'It kind of ends his Joker run.'
