Kit Harington on his, 'gender fluid,' upbringing
Game Of Thrones star Kit Harington has opened up about his, 'gender fluid,' upbringing.
He also talked about how men have an emotional blockage, which he believes stems from the attitudes during World War II.
The Jon Snow actor spoke candidly in an interview with The Telegraph this week, as quoted by MailOnline.
He gushed over his mother, former playwright Deborah Jane Catesby, who he said he, 'idolised,' growing up.
Kit revealed in the interview that his mother taught him and his brother about gender politics from a young age.
He shared, 'I asked for a Mighty Max and she bought me a Polly Pocket.'
'I asked for an Action Man and I got a doll - it was very gender fluid from the word go.'
'And I went with it,' Kit added.
Kit believes men have an emotional blockage
The actor went on to share why he believes men have an emotional blockage.
He feels it's because of the attitude that has been passed down by generations since World War II.
'I feel that emotionally men have a problem, a blockage,' Kit explained.
He continued, 'And that blockage has come from the second World War, passed down from grandfather to father to son.'
'We do not speak about how we feel because it shows weakness, because it is not masculine.'
Referring to his role as Jon Snow in GOT, Kit said, 'Having portrayed a man who was silent, who was heroic, I feel going forward that is a role I don’t want to play any more.'
We can't wait to see what projects Kit takes on next!
