The inspiration behind Lewis Capaldi's Hold Me While You Wait
Lewis Capaldi has revealed his song Hold Me While You Wait is about Love Island's Paige Turley.
He makes the revelation during a gig at Seven Dials Market in the West End on Saturday.
Lewis made a surprise appearance on stage at the venue over the weekend.
The singer made the revelation while introducing his song Hold Me While You Wait.
He said, "This next song is about a lady."
Lewis explained, "You think it’s going well, and the lady has different ideas. She thinks it’s going horribly."
"Then she leaves, and you’re quite sad about it, and you write an album about it."
He added, "And then she ends up going on Love Island."
However, Lewis was keen to reassure the audience that there's absolutely no bad blood.
He said, "For the record, I hope my ex-girlfriend wins Love Island. Not bitter."
The singer continued, "I’ve done quite well out of that relationship."
And it seems he's learned a lesson from it.
Lewis explained, "I did think maybe I shouldn’t write songs about people, because they can end up on TV later on."
Paige is coupled up with Finn Tapp in the Love Island villa.
