Molly-Mae on social media trolling
Love Island 2019 runner up Molly-Mae faced a lot of backlash online during her time in the villa.
The influencer opens up about the abuse she received from celebrities she once admired.
Her experience has prompted her to launch her own anti-trolling campaign.
During her time in the villa, Molly was branded 'fake' and was even appointed the nickname 'Money-Mae'.
However, the islanders have no access to the outside world so she didn't know what was being said about her.
Molly tells the Mirror that she was 'petrified' to get her phone back when the show ended.
'I was petrified to get my phone back because I knew people had been saying I was fake...'
'And accusing me of just wanting the money and my sister had kind of given me a heads up when she came in that it was pretty bad.'
'You can't get away from it. I read every single comment that comes through my inbox, I read every single tweet.'
'I'm very thick-skinned so it doesn't get to me...'
'But I know someone who is less so really could be because some of the things that are said to me are vile.'
Celebrities join in
According to Molly, celebrities she once looked up to joined in on the abuse.
'One thing I was really shocked about when I came out was a lot of celebrities that I looked up to and really loved...'
'I'd go back on their accounts to see what they'd been saying and a lot had been joining in on the trolling and negativity against me.'
Molly explains further, 'Like a Victoria's Secret model who I'd adored for ages joining in on it and it was so hard to see.'
'There were a lot of celebrities encouraging negativity.'
'You'd think they'd understand better than anyone else, you just wouldn't think that would be a thing...'
'You'd think celebrities would understand what it feels like.'
