Film fans are shocked!
After nearly 100 years the Oscars have finally fixed a major voting loophole.
In an announcement which shocked many film fans the awards are now requiring members to watch every film in a category before voting.
The news comes after several anonymous voters admitted skipping films, because of disinterest or lack of time.
The AMPAS publication does not specify how members are expected to demonstrate that they have watched, but this is a significant shift in the regulations that has never been explained in such a clear manner.
The new mechanism will ensure that Academy members have seen every film by tracking them on the organisation’s voters-only streaming site.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, viewers who watch films elsewhere, will be required to "fill out a form" detailing when and where it was watched.
Mark your calendars! The 98th #Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
