Samira Wiley & Lauren Morelli's exciting news
Star of Orange is the New Black and The Handmaid's Tail, Samira Wiley, has welcomed her first child with wife Lauren Morelli.
She shared the news in a Mother's Day tribute to her other half on Instagram over the weekend.
Samira posted an adorable photo of their baby girl.
She revealed in the caption that her wife Lauren gave birth to her four weeks ago, after a three day labour.
They named their little one George Elizabeth.
In fact, today, May 11th, marks one month since her birth.
Samira wrote, 'Welcome to the world, babygirl.'
'We love you and we thank you for giving us the best 1st Mother’s Day two ladies could ask for.'
Lauren also shared the news with her 251k followers.
She wrote, '4 weeks ago today, our daughter came into the world and changed everything.'
'We are so happy, so grateful, and so tired. George Elizabeth, 4.11.21'
You might recognise Samira for her role as Moira in The Handmaid's Tail.
She also played Poussey Washington in Orange is the New Black, which is where she met her wife.
Lauren was a screenwriter on the show.
In 2014, she came out as gay in an essay for Mic, after being married to a man for years.
Lauren's story for the publication was titled, 'While Writing for 'Orange Is the New Black,' I Realized I Am Gay.'
