Ovie Soko talks Amber Gill romance speculation

Love Island 2019 contestant Ovie Soko addresses rumours of a romance between himself and show winner Amber Gill.

He claims it's purely platonic and insists, "People of the opposite sex can be friends."

Ovie and Amber formed a strong bond during their time on the dating series.

However, he was in a coupling with India Reynolds while she was with Irish Islander Greg O'Shea.

And now that they're both single, they've been spending a lot of time together.

It wasn't until Amber shared a TikTok of herself and Ovie in a hotel room together that the rumour mill went into overdrive.

Ovie comments

Speaking with KISS FM UK, Ovie denies any rumours of a romance between himself and Amber.

"It’s a good friend. It’s a very good friend."

"I think the important thing in all of it is for everyone to appreciate that people of the opposite sex can be friends."

He goes on, "That’s a dangerous line we’re playing with when that’s the message we’re putting out from the female and the male side."

Ovie says we're missing out if we believe a man and a woman can't be friends.

"I think it’s important to appreciate a good friendship."

Ovie makes the point, "As a man there is a lot you can learn from a woman that your mates can’t teach you in your guy friend groups, and as a female from a man that your friends in your group chat can’t teach you."

"If you’re saying that you cant be friends with the opposite sex you’re cutting off persons that could have saved you a lot of heartache, saved you a lot of headache."
