Indian actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas has apologised for previously starring in a series of ads for a skin-lightening cream.
The star opened up about the career, 'misstep,' in her new memoir Unfinished.

According to The Guardian, in a Pond's commercial, her on-screen boyfriend leaves her for a lighter-skinned woman.
As a result, she starts using the skin-lightening cream, and by the end, she wins back her man.

In her memoir, Priyanka wrote, 'I can’t go back and change what I did, but I can apologise, and I do so sincerely.'
During a chat with The Guardian, Priyanka was asked how she felt when she saw the ad for the first time.
'I felt sad, actually,' she admitted.

Priyanka couldn't help but think about her younger self.
She explained, 'I saw myself through my 13-year-old eyes when I was making concoctions in my bathroom trying to lighten my skin tone.'
