This is genuinely mortifying.
It turns out, even big name A-list actors embarrass themselves sometimes. Reese Witherspoon has explained how she's "haunted" by a moment that lost her a friendship.
In an interview to promote her new film You're Cordially Invited, Reese shared how she was friends with a "serious" actress who asked her for a favour.
“This friend of mine, who I didn’t really know that well but she was a very serious, proper actress, she asked me to give her an award,” she said.
“But I had never been to this award ceremony, so I thought it was like a roast... So I got up and I roasted her.”

How did Reese's roast go down?
Describing the ceremony as "elegant," "British" and "classy," Reese's roast was the completely wrong tone for the event.
While Reese was able to laugh about it, her friend didn't see the funny side of things.
Remembering one moment, Reese said she had joked "Remember the time we got laser hair removal?” but the reaction was "pretty bad."
She said, “I thought it was so funny and it was just, I had the wrong audience.”

Is Reese still friends with the actress?
It turns out, the moment was mortifying enough to end the relationship. Reese claims the actress "doesn't like [her anymore."
She admitted, “Not even kidding, she doesn’t talk to me anymore. Oh well... I’m still embarrassed about it.”
With the Legally Blonde prequel in the works, maybe she can offer the friend a part as a way to apologise? Just a thought.
