It was recently announced that Regé-Jean Page would be stepping away from his role as the Duke of Hastings in Bridgerton.
According to Page Six's sources, his decision to leave was due to, 'creative differences,' with Shonda Rhimes and her team.

A Hollywood insider spoke to the outlet about his departure this week.
They said, 'Regé is not coming back to Bridgerton because of creative differences with [executive producer] Shonda Rhimes and her team.'

Season two of the hit series focusses on Jonathan Bailey's character, Anthony Bridgerton.
This means Regé-Jean would no longer be the male lead.
The source said this was partially why he decided to leave, 'He wasn’t happy with what was planned for his character...'

Regé-Jean shot to fame following his performance in season one.
So it's important to note he's been, 'inundated with offers for other interesting and challenging leading roles.'
