Shay Mitchell has hit back after online trolls criticised her for attending Drake's birthday party shortly after giving birth.

She announced her baby news a week ago and some feel it's bad form for a mother to leave her child so soon after the birth.

So Shay took to Instagram Stories to respond.

In an Instagram Stories video, she can be seen scrolling through the negative comments.

"Apparently people are really upset that I left three days after having a kid to go out and party."

Referencing her dog Angel, she continues, "It wasn't three days and I left her with Angel, so."

One comment reads, 'You going out for a few hours doesn't hurt the baby right, I'm sure she left her child in capable hands.'

'new mothers don't have to stay locked in their home 24/7 to bond with the baby.'

So shay replied, "Yeah EXACTLY - I left her with Angel and put water out for both of them."
