She struggled with body image

The actress first starred in Game Of Thrones when she was just 13 which meant her teenage years were spent in the public eye.

'Suddenly, everyone's metabolism slows down at 17, 18 and then that's documented.'

'My skin and everything. People commenting on it. I was too aware of my body at a young age.'

'And it just kind of took over my mind, it was all I would think about. Calorie counting, everything.'

''Oh, I'll just eat nuts today.' I stopped having my period for a year—that's when I decided to have therapy...'

'I just think it's so important everyone should have a therapist, honestly.'

Social media's impact

Just last month Sophie broke down in an interview with Dr. Phil.

She says social media contributed to her depression but it wasn't the main reason.

"I wouldn't say that was the main reason, I think it's a yanno some sort of chemical imbalance."

However, she believes social media, "definitely was a catalyst."

The 22-year-old said people would write really negative things about her online.

"I would just believe it. I would say, ‘Yeah, I am spotty, I am fat, I am a bad actress.'"

She says she would, "just believe it. I would get [the costume department] to tighten my corset a lot."

"I just got very, very self-conscious."

She admits her depression lead her to lack motivation.

When she had a break in filming, she would stay inside with her co-star Maisie Williams.

"Maisie and I used to do this together. Being friends with each other was quite destructive because we were doing the same things."

The final ever episode of Game Of Thrones aired early this morning.
