The second annual U Magazine 30Under30 awards took place in No.22 last night. This award ceremony is a favourite of ours as it celebrates Irish women thriving in a diverse range of industries including science, sport, media, music, charity, entrepreneurship and many more. Given the level of talent invited to the event we were proud to have our very own Rachael Ryan and Doireann Garrihy nominated for awards.
Rachael Ryan is a workhorse in Spin Towers so we were delighted she was nominated in the #30Under30 Radio category. She juggles hats producing Spin Talk during the week and presenting the Saturday Night Takeover at the weekend. In her spare time Rachael makes documentaries and volunteers with the Dublin Simon Community, two passions which will come together this Sunday when her documentary 'Home' is aired on Spin1038 at 10am. She goes behind the headlines of homelessness to tell the stories of the clients of Dublin's Simon Community and makes the housing crisis human.
Doireann Garrihy, one half of our Zoo Crew duo with Martin Guilfoyle, won Rising Star 2017! Rising Star is spot on as Doireann's social media fame has soared this year. Doireann was no stranger to fame before this year having appeared on TV3 as our entertainment reporter many times last year but following her wildly popularly impressions of Irish personalities on Snapchat, Doireann has landed numerous TV gigs off her own back.
