It all kicked off when Matthew slammed the moderator for not giving Mike Pence enough time to respond.
Paul however, disagreed.
He replied to the since deleted tweet, 'It would also be nice if pence answered the question he was originally asked rather than deflecting.'

As quoted by Seventeen, Matthew replied, 'Paul likes to vote for criminals and losers, just like he did in 2016.'
He added, 'Your opinion on the matter carries little weight as far as I’m concerned. Next.'
'You’re mistaken!' The Stefan actor replied, 'I didn’t vote for trump in 2016!'

The 38-year-old told his co-star, 'Lighten up baby boy u know u miss me.'
But Matthew wasn't finished. He went on to share screenshots of some horrific messages he's received from Paul's fans.
He wrote, 'Your fans are super class. You must be proud'

Paul responded, 'No buddy - that's low hanging fruit.'
'Why would I be proud/condone that? You're better than that Ernesto.'
'Screen grabbing garbage and tweeting at me won't buy u any points.'

Paul ended the argument by tagging Matthew, and writing, 'love you buddy'
But his former co-star never replied.
