The conversation begins with documentary footage taken before their very public breakup.
Her mother Dianna tells the camera, "He just fit right in with the whole family."
Demi's sister Madison said her mother called her and said, "Listen, I just wanna let you know, Demi's met this guy."
"And I think he's gonna be around for a while."
The singer appeared back on camera, where she spoke about how lonely she was before Max entered her life.

Demi and Max started dating in lockdown and it wasn't long before they had moved in together.
They spent every second in each other's company, so when reality kicked in, everything changed.

Demi recorded a video of herself on October 1st, announcing their split for the documentary.

"My life has kind of flipped upside down. I'm no longer engaged..." She revealed.
"I'm really sad that things ended the way that they did. Good news is, I haven't picked up any hard drugs or anything like that."
"I'm hanging in there... it's just shi**y."

Later that night, Demi recorded another video, but this time, she was bawling crying.
Through sobs, she told the camera, "The video I made earlier wasn't an accurate representation of what I'm going through."
"I just miss the person that I started quarantining with."
What happened?
"I don't know how to give my heart to someone after this," she cried.
Demi opened up about what happened, "I think I rushed into something that I thought was what I was supposed to do."
"I realised as time went on that I didn't actually know the person that I was engaged to."

She continued, "We were only together four or five months and honestly, it was false advertising."
"The hardest part of the breakup was mourning the person that I thought he was."
Her friend added, "And the life you thought you were going to have!"

After news broke of their split, Max publicly called Demi out on social media.
He claimed he found out about their breakup after reading it in a publication, 'Imagine finding out the status of your relationship through a tabloid.'
Max didn't stop there; he also shared a series of erratic posts about the breakup.

In the episode, Demi said, "I mean I was just as shocked as the rest of the world at some of the things that were said and done."
During a chat with her friends about the breakup, her pal recalled, "When you were done, you were done."
Demi agreed, "I was DONE."
