Five Essential Experiences To Try In Thailand

Yes, it's the end of April (gulp!) and it's time to start planning your summer.

1. Island Hopping

Thailand has over 8,000km of coastline just waiting to be explored! The islands are famous for their wonderful beaches, laid back vibe and once-in-a-lifetime activities like scuba diving. Relax under swaying palm trees and then jump into the crystal clear waters - what more could you ask for?

2. Meet The Elephants

Get up close and personal with these beautiful, gentle animals. The Elephant Nature Park near Chiang Mai is a great shout. The centre lets the elephants roam free and many of them have been rescued from labour camps. Experiences at the park include bathing in the river with the elephants and helping out at feeding time. A word of warning though - you will fall in love.

3. The Floating Markets

Experience the rickety wooden boats piled high with colourful local produce for yourself. Pick a floating market and make sure to arrive early to avoid crowds and bag the best bargains.

4. Visit Ancient Ruins

Thailand's national parks are renowned for their beauty and scale. Expect UNESCO World Heritage Sites, superb hiking trails and plenty of jaw-dropping moments. 

 

Phimai Historical Park Phimai is the largest and most important Khmer temple in Thailand. It is situated bang in the middle of the small Thai town of the same name. 5. Take A Thai Cooking Class

A cooking class with a local chef is a fun and delicious way to immerse yourself into the Thai cuisine. Think plenty of fresh and tasty local spices, vegetables, herbs and fruits and of course, the mouth-watering dish at the end of it all. A cooking class is also great craic if you're part of a gang - decide once and for all who is the Gordon Ramsey of the group!
