The 56-year-old is of American Irish heritage.
Actor John C. Reilly will be the International Guest of Honour at this year's St Patrick's Day parade in Dublin.
The Step Brothers star grew up in an Irish-Lithuanian household in Chicago.
His neighbourhood was 'predominantly Irish' with John's great grandfather emigrating from Ireland in the early 1900s.
Reilly will appear alongside Grand Marshal's Ellen Keane and Kellie Harrington in the parade.

Speaking on his inclusion in the parade, the Talladega Nights star said he was 'so excited' to appear at the event.
"It’s been a long time since we have all been able to celebrate life together."
"I can’t think of a better place to do it than Ireland. I’m honoured to be part of the celebration."
"A great day for hope and a great day for the Irish and the Irish at heart. See you there!"
The parade starts at midday at Parnell Square and ends at the junction of Kevin Street and Cuffe Street.
