MCD's Denis Desmond gave an interview to The Irish Mirror this week.
Speaking to the publication about the festival he said, 'It is five months away.'
'I would be optimistic that Electric Picnic will happen but of course we are in un-chartered waters here.'
The Managing Director of the company went on.
'I’ve no doubt that there will be a relaxation of the restrictions in place, but it will probably be some time before we can have 20,000 people in a stadium or in a field.'
Referring to China, Desmond said, 'We are two months behind them and we are not as badly hit with Covid-19'
'If we are back to normality by July, we would be doing well.'
All 70,000 tickets for Electric Picnic 2020 are sold out.
Promoters revealed the line up in early March.
Rage Against The Machine, Snow Patrol and The Chemical Brothers are set to headline.
Electric Picnic is due to take place in Stradbally, Laois from 4th - 6th September.
