New to Tag
Are you interested in tag rugby but don't know how to get started? We have just the thing for you!
SPIN 1038 has teamed up with the Irish Tag Rugby Association (I.T.R.A.) to put on tag coaching sessions this summer.
New to Tag is a social occasion, ideal for those interested in the sport and having fun.
You'll meet new people, develop teamwork skills and learn the rules of tag rugby in a non competitive environment.
No experience required
The New to Tag coaching programme was built for beginners.
The sessions are short, instructive and helpful for those who want to see if the game is for them.
You don't need a sporting background and all the basics will be explained.
What is the tag rugby?
Tag rugby is a mixed social sport, suitable for all shapes, sizes, ages and sporting abilities.
Teams are made up of seven players, a mix of men and women.
The attacking team has six plays to score a try, which is worth one point for a male and three for a female.
Attacking players attempt to dodge defenders, while the defenders try to prevent a score by tagging their opponent.
Each player wears a pair of tag shorts with a Velcro patch on either hip.
Tagging someone involves pulling the Velcro tag from their shorts.
