The Oscars always see a return to that classic Hollywood look, particularly when it comes to beauty. With last night's pinnacle event, there were red lips aplenty, glowing skin and simple, sleek hairstyles. For us, it was Best Actress winner Emma Stone (who won for La La Land) who took the beauty biscuit. She looks like an actual angel.
Hailee Steinfeld's smokey eye was, in a word, smokin'. Suddenly, she's all grown up and looking as sophisticated as any other red carpet knockouts. The concentration of eyeshadow under the eye makes her look pop even more, but she keeps the focus on the eyes, choosing a muted lip colour.
Alicia Vikander makes this list, not because she's taken her makeup in some new direction but because she's kept it simple, allowing for her own natural beauty to be seen. She nails the 'no makeup makeup' look, but of course, a lot of makeup would have been involved. We are also loving the effortlessness of her hair.
Michelle Williams gets our stamp of approval too; her softly flushed cheeks paired with lots of black mascara are a winning combination. She is just so outrageously beautiful, isn't she?
Scar-Jo has to get a nod in this department too; her hair is giving us major short chop goals. As you can see, the whole contouring trend has taken a backseat, with all celebrities now nailing a more classic, pared back look. Less is more.
Last but by no means least, can we please take a moment to appreciate the goddess that is Janelle Monae? Look at those golden eyes. Smouldering.
