Science Week
This week is Science Week 2019.
Running until Sunday 17th November, the theme of this year's event is Climate Action.
Across the week the Science Foundation Ireland Tree Planting Initiative in partnership with Coillte, has been planting 30,000 trees across the country.
Trees are essential for our planet, as they reduce carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the atmosphere.
Planting a tree is one small step you can take to help change the planet.
Another is recycling.
An action as simple as recycling or reducing your waste can have a positive impact on your climate future.
We at SPIN 1038 got involved with Science Week this year!
To do our bit for the environment we commissioned a group of NCAD students to create a sculpture made entirely from recycled materials.
Students Alan Nugent and Hana Bohacova titled the sculpture 'Climate Tree.'
With everything from the frame to the filling made using reused materials.
Science Week will be facilitating tree planting events around the country this week.
People can plant a tree, discover how trees impact our environment and learn which trees suit the Irish ecosystem.
