A 900km cycle in aid of the Irish Cancer Society
Two 21-year-old amateur Irish cyclists, Cian Murphy and Cathal Mongey plan to cycle 900km from Mizen Head to Malin Head later this month in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.
The boys have already raised over €3,000 for the cause.
Cian and Cathal set up a GoFundMe me page ahead of their cycle and so far, they've raised €3,739 of their €5,000 goal.
Their journey from the most southerly point of Ireland to the most northerly point kicks off later this month.
'We hope to complete our cycle over two-to-three weeks but will grind it out for as long as it takes to complete our goal!'
The Irish Cancer Society holds a special place in Cian and Cathal's hearts.
Cian's father Vic passed away in mid-March, following a four-year battle with cancer.
Throughout this time, the Irish Cancer Society provided invaluable support for him and his family.
The boys explained, 'Charities such as the Irish Cancer Society have been heavily impacted by the current health crisis of CoVid-19.'
'We feel that it is so important for us to reach out to them in their time of need, as they have done for so many families in Ireland.'
