The Woods drops on Netflix today
The Netflix adaptation of Harlan Coben's novel The Woods drops on Netflix today and we're so excited.
He's the same author that brought us Safe and The Stranger.
The Woods is set in two time spans: 1994 and 2019.
The six episode series follows the story of Warsaw prosecutor, Paweł Kopiński who's still grieving over the loss of his sister.
She walked into the woods at a summer camp 25 years ago and was never seen again.
The discovery of a homicide victim – a boy who vanished along with Paweł's sister – reveals evidence that links him to her disappearance.
The Netflix description reads, 'As hope rises that his sister could still be alive, dangerous secrets from his family's past threaten to tear apart everything that Paweł has been trying to hold together.'
Harlan Coben
The author signed a five year overall deal with Netflix in August 2018.
This means he'll be working with the streaming service to develop 14 existing titles and future projects.
Coben will also serve as an executive producer on all projects.
VP of International Originals for Netflix, Erik Barmack expressed his excitement over the deal in a statement to Deadline.
He said, 'We are excited to continue our partnership with [Coben] and develop his suspenseful thrillers into global Netflix originals.'
While Coben said, 'I loved working with the Netflix team on Safe, and seeing the fantastic audience response around the world.'
'I’m thrilled to continue our relationship to create more original films and series with them on a global scale,' he finished.
Well, we know what we'll be binge-watching tonight!
