Kevin the Carrot
Aldi's full official Kevin the Carrot Christmas advert is here.
Colm Meaney stars in it as Santa Claus.
Aldi shared the first official teaser for the advert last week.
It shows Kevin cruising at altitude in a fighter jet, accompanied by wingman Lieutenant Turkey.
Suddenly, he spots Santa and his reindeer flying high above a snowy mountain range.
Kevin inverts his fighter jet in order to snap a photo of Mr. Claus.
But soon after, disaster strikes.
Kevin is accidentally ejected from his plane mid-flight.
The clip ends with Kevin spiraling down to earth.
His parachute is in flames and his whereabouts is totally unknown.
Where is Kevin?
Part 2
Aldi released the follow up video last night.
Kevin's wife Katie and children Jasper, Chantenay and Baby are at home getting ready for Christmas.
Baby is heard saying, "It’s not Christmas until my daddy gets home."
Meanwhile, Kevin lands in a snowy forest, a long way from home.
He soon meets a hedgehog named Harry, who offers him a lift on his back.
Everything's going well until suddenly, they find themselves heading for a cliff.
They fall of the cliff and land in a stream of water.
The day is saved when Santa Claus, played by Colm Meaney, finds the pair laying on the ice.
Instead of taking them home in his sleigh, he puts them in the basket of his bicycle.
Santa cycles through the sky, E.T. style, while Kevin's kids watch their silhouette across the full moon.
The carrot is finally reunited with his family.
Santa is heard saying, "The magical moment was finally here, Christmas together with those you hold dear."
Colm Meaney on playing Santa
In a statement following the advert's release, Colm gushed over his new role as Santa.
As quoted by Metro, he said, 'I thought it was about time that I played the big man himself and so was delighted to be asked by Aldi to be part of its Christmas campaign.'
He continued, 'Kevin the Carrot and his family were incredibly welcoming on set and the whole experience was a total joy – even getting in and out of the big red suit.'
'This year has been incredibly challenging for everyone, but I hope that over the festive season people will be able to enjoy this special time with family and friends – and maybe the odd mince pie or turkey sandwich.'
'Oh, and contrary to many men during lockdown, I can confirm that the beard is not mine.'
To get you in the festive mood, we've compiled a list of Christmas movies coming soon to Netflix.
