Disney is also planning to pull all of its films and TV shows off Netflix in the US.
So thankfully, it won't affect us here in Ireland!
Netflix has made the following statement
“The statement Disney made only impacts the US and only the pay one output deal for theatrical films. US Netflix members will have access to Disney films on the service through the end of 2019, including all new films that are shown theatrically through the end of 2018. We continue to do business with the Walt Disney Company on many fronts, including our ongoing relationship with Marvel TV.”
The media giant is set to start its own online streaming services for films, shows and sports. They'll launch an ESPN-branded sports service early next year and a streaming subscription by 2019.
The new Disney platform will be the home for all movies in the future starting in 2019 with the Toy Story 4, Frozen 2 and the upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King.
