Release Date
We don't have an official release date for Peaky Blinders season 5 just yet.
However, we do know the season will return sometime this year.
The BBC confirmed the news on Twitter all the way back in 2017 on the same day season 4 ended.
CONFIRMED: #PeakyBlinders will return to @BBCTwo in 2019. 😎 pic.twitter.com/YskoNrhezc
— BBC Two (@BBCTwo) 20 December 2017
While the tweet says the show will return to BBC Two this is now incorrect.
Due to the popularity of the series, season 5 will air to a larger audience on BBC One.
Filming started in September 2018 so we're predicting a summer or early autumn release date.
Cast
Most of our favourite cast members will return.
Although Charlotte Riley and, for obvious reasons, husband Tom Hardy are ruled out.
In addition, some exciting new characters are being added into the mix.
Most notably, The Hunger Game's Sam Claflin has been cast as Oswald Mosley, a fascist dictator.

The BBC shared a round up of their 2019 drama offerings last week and Peaky Blinders featured:
What else do I need to know?
Season 4 dropped on Netflix just before Christmas giving us all a chance to get caught up before new episodes land.
We also learned in December that a Peaky Blinders movie is in the works.
In other news, creator Steven Knight revealed at the TV BAFTAs the show will finish after season 7.
Meaning we've three more seasons to look forward to!
Finally, it looks like season 5 will take the Shelby family stateside.
On set photos revealed a very American looking Liverpool street.
