We'll learn about the origins of the White Walkers and the "horrifying secrets of Westeros's history".
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Martin revealed the Westeros of the new series is a very different place.
"There's no King's Landing. There's no Iron Throne. There are no Targaryens."
He continued, "We're dealing with a different and older world and hopefully that will be part of the fun of the series."
The final episode of Game Of Thrones airs this Sunday.
