J.K. Rowling finally speaks out about HP reunion
Author of the Harry Potter books, J.K. Rowling, has finally spoken out about why she wasn't part of the franchise's 20th anniversary special last Christmas.
Many speculated it had something to do with her controversial comments about the trans community, but she insists that wasn't the reason.
A bit late (been working) but happy #InternationalDogDay! There are two different dogs here and if you can tell which is which, I salute you. pic.twitter.com/WQAcoMUQRl

She opened up in an interview with Graham Norton on his Virgin Radio UK show.
"I was asked to be on that and I decided I didn’t want to do it," she revealed.
J.K. explained, "I thought it was about the films more than the book, quite rightly, that was what the anniversary was about."
"No one said don’t [do it]… I was asked to do it and I decided not to," the author insisted.
J.K. has received a lot of backlash over her controversial views on transgender women.
Members of the Harry Potter cast including Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have released statements condemning her words.

So many questioned whether her controversial views played a part in her not being involved in the reunion.
In January, Luna Lovegood actress Evanna Lynch shut down speculation of a rift between the cast and the author.
She told GB News that the cast still have a lot of, "love and respect," for her.

"I think there's things we don't all agree with and don't understand," Evanna said.
"I've talked to all the cast, they all have great respect for her even if they don't agree with her beliefs."
