James Bond will never be a woman
The producer of James Bond has put to bed any speculation of a female 007.
In a recent interview with Variety Barbara Broccoli insists, 'He can be of any colour, but he is male.'
The upcoming Bond movie No Time to Die will mark Daniel Craig's last performance as the spy.
And the question everyone needs an answer to is who will replace him?
It wasn't long before the conversation of a woman taking over became prominent.
Speaking with the media outlet, Barbara is adamant a female Bond is not on the cards.
However, she's open to the idea of him being of any ethnicity.
'He can be of any colour, but he is male.'
She goes on, 'I believe we should be creating new characters for women - strong female characters.'
'I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it.'
Barbara defends the decision, 'I think women are far more interesting than that.'
The producer made similar comments during a chat with The Guardian in 2018.
'Bond is male. He’s a male character. He was written as a male and I think he’ll probably stay as a male.'
Barbara admits, 'And that’s fine. We don’t have to turn male characters into women.'
'Let’s just create more female characters and make the story fit those female characters.'
No Time to Die drops April 3rd.
