Ricky Gervais hosts the 77th Golden Globes tonight
Ricky Gervais is set to host the 2020 (how is it 2020 already?) Golden Globes tonight.
This is the fifth time the comedian will take to the prestigious stage, his last outing in 2015.
So while we eagerly await his return, here's a look at Gervais' five most outrageous Golden Globe moments:
2010
This was the very first year Ricky hosted the awards and the celebs had no idea what was about to hit them.
Not only did he accuse Steve Carrell of copyright, he also slagged Mel Gibson's past drinking problem.
"I like a drink as much as the next man," he said, "unless the next man is Mel Gibson."
2011
Ricky was back with a bang the following year and he wasn't holding back.
Ricky threw shade at Johnny Depp, Charlie Sheen, Cher, Tom Cruise, Hugh Hefner and more.
"Talking of The Walking Dead, congratulations to Hugh Hefner who's getting married at the age of 84."
2012
Ricky made one of his more memorable comments during the 2012 awards show.
Speaking to Jodie Foster he remarked, "Jodie Foster’s Beaver. I haven't seen it myself."
"I've spoken to a lot of guys here, they haven't seen it either, but that doesn't mean it's not any good."
2015
In 2015, Gervais was back after a two year break.
One of his most notable insults began, "I'm not gonna bring up the terrible things you done to get here. Streep. Clooney."
"I'm not even looking at Katie Holmes."
2020
NBC released two promo clips in the run up to tonight's show.
The first sees Gervais wish America a happy holidays.
The second video plays into Ricky's infamous reputation for being unpredictable on the Golden Globes stage.
"As usual we have no idea what he's going to do!"
The ceremony takes place in LA tonight.
