Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock has been cast in the upcoming romantic Christmas comedy Boxing Day.
Aml Ameen will be making his directorial debut on the movie, which is based in the UK.

According to Deadline, Aml will not only direct, but he'll also star in the flick.
He'll be joined by How to Get Away with Murder's Aja Naomi King and Secrets & Lies star Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
Not to mention, Boxing Day will mark Leigh-Anne Pinnock's first major movie role.

Aml confirmed the news on Twitter last night.
He wrote, 'VERY PROUD to announce my Directorial Debut ‘BOXING DAY’ Christmas set Romantic Comedy Starring a wonderful cast; myself [Aja Naomi King], Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.'

Speaking to Deadline, he said, 'It is such an honour to be teaming up with Warner Bros. Pictures, Film4 and BFI to bring Black British Culture to the world in this universal holiday rom-com.'
'It’s long been a dream of mine to capture films that reflect the wonderfully multi-cultural city that raised me while sharing stories from the diary of my life.'

It follows the story of Melvin (Aml), a British author living in America.

Melvin returns home to London for Christmas to introduce his American fiancée Lisa (King) to the family.
As quoted by Deadline, 'Their relationship is put to the test, as she discovers the world her fiancé has left behind.'
