Love Island summer series

Love Island bosses seem reluctant to let the global pandemic get in the way of this summer's series.

According to reports, they're hoping to air the dating show in August rather than its usual June time-slot.

What's even more interesting, is that we could also be seeing the first ever UK based villa.

The summer series of Love Island generally starts in June with production taking place mid-May.

According to Variety, a number of, 'contingency plans,' are in the works for this year's series due to the global pandemic.

One being that they film in the UK rather than Spain.

Spain has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic so filming there isn't an option for the time being.

As a result, bosses are entertaining the idea of shooting somewhere in the UK instead.

Variety reports this is also being considered for Ant and Dec's I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

Insurance

A senior entertainment executive told Variety that the fate of the summer series rests, 'in the hands of insurance companies.'

'At what point can you ask people who have never met to couple up and get into bed together without having a vaccine or proof you have immunity (from coronavirus)?'

The insider revealed, 'There are going to be myriad, complex conversations going on.'

'It’s all down to whether you get insurance.'

'Can you insure the show, and will insurance firms say, ‘We need to see that everyone is vaccinated or immunised beforehand.''
