Netflix announced crime series The Staircase which tells the compelling story of Michael Peterson, a crime novelist accused of killing his wife Kathleen, after she is found dead at the bottom of a staircase in their house and the 16 year judicial battle that followed.
Netflix will air 3 brand new episodes, as well as the original 2004 series.
The new episodes will premiere from the Tribeca Film Festival on April 28 and launch on Netflix this summer.
Back in 2004, French TV Canal+ premiered a multi-part documentary about the mysterious murder of Kathleen Peterson at her home in North Carolina in 2001. Police pointed the finger at Michael almost immediately, but he denied it.
As the case unfolded, prosecutors discovered that Michael was linked to an unsolved death in Germany years ago when his family lived there.
