New SpongeBob movie coming to Netflix
The new SpongeBob movie Sponge On The Run is coming to Netflix.
Insiders told Variety that the streamer have acquired the international distribution rights to the film.
The movie was due out in May this year, however, the coronavirus pandemic has delayed its release.
Paramount decided in June that the movie would skip a theatrical release altogether.
Instead, it'll drop on digital rental services in early 2021 before moving to the American streaming service CBS All Access.
Meanwhile, Netflix will offer it to its international fans, excluding the U.S. and China.
An exact release date for the new movie on Netflix hasn't yet been announced.
However, it's American release is currently set for early 2021.
The movie
The official trailer for Sponge On The Run came out last November and it looks so good.
It follows SpongeBob and Patrick as they embark on a hilarious adventure to save Gary.
The trailer begins with the title character opening up The Krusty Krab.
He walks into the burger restaurant and shouts, "I love my life," as his customers applaud him.
Later in the trailer, Sponge returns home to greet Gary, only to find he's nowhere to be seen.
He searches the whole town but he can't find his pal anywhere.
So he turns to his other best friend Patrick who exclaims, "Friends don't let friends go on dangerous quests alone!"
Possibly the strangest part of the trailer however, is when Keanu Reeves shows up as the face of a tumbleweed named Sage.
"I'm made out of sage and I am a sage, so it works out pretty well."
