A Taylor Swift documentary is on the way
Taylor Swift has taken to Instagram to share her brand new documentary is out January 31st.
Miss Americana will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on the 23rd before dropping on Netflix.
The movie is an hour and 25 minutes long and has been directed by award winning director Lana Wilson.
It'll see Taylor Swift embrace her role as a songwriter and performer, 'and as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice.'
The initial announcement
Taylor first announced the news of her documentary on Twitter in November last year.
It came out during a rant hitting out at Scooter Braun for taking over the label which owned her first six albums.
'This isn't the way I had planned on telling you this news.'
Taylor told her fans at the time that the Netflix documentary could be cancelled.
The reason being, 'Scott and Scooter have declined the use of my older music or performance footage for this project...'
'Even though there is no mention of either of them or 'Big Machine Records' anywhere in the film.'
However, according to Taylor, the music moguls did say they'd allow her use the music if she does two things for them:
- She must agree not to re-record copycat versions of her songs next year.
- She must, 'Stop talking about [Scott] and Scooter Braun.'
When Scooter bought over Big Machine Records, Taylor made the decision to re-record all her old songs.
That way she would have ownership of them again.
