The final season of Game of Thrones is coming.
A teaser for the final season of Game of Thrones aired on HBO last night.
The much-anticipated clip played out just before the premier of True Detective Season 3.
The mini trailer shows John Snow, Sansa and Arya Stark meet in the Winterfell family crypt.
As they walk through the passage ways we see statues of Ned, Catyelyn and Lyanna Stark.
Just as the Stark children pause at the foot of their own statues something icy creeps towards them.
Release Date
Game of Thrones season 8 will return on April 14th.
HBO announced last year that we can expect six new episodes.
The channel chief Richard Plepler described the episodes to Variety as 'six movies'.

Spin Off
Although the end is coming, there will be more of George R.R. Martin's Westros.
HBO is already working on a number of spin-offs.
Naomi Watts has been cast for one of the new shows with the working title The Long Night.
The new story will be set 5,000 years before the fight for the Iron Throne.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Martin revealed the Westeros of the new series is a very different place.
"There's no King's Landing. There's no Iron Throne. There are no Targaryens."
We'll learn about the origins of the White Walkers and the "horrifying secrets of Westeros's history".
Catch Up
We have exactly 90 days to wait until Game of Thrones season 8.
If you're planning to catch up before then you need to watch an episode every 1.3 days.
Season 7 of the hit show is streaming on NOW TV until May 2019.
In addition, the final season will stream on the service the same time as it airs in the US.
