The CW Confirm Riverdale Has Been Renewed For A 6th Season

Riverdale season 6

The CW have confirmed Riverdale has been renewed for a sixth season.

They delighted fans with the news this week.

The announcement follows the Riverdale season five premiere, which aired earlier this month.

The latest episode drops on Netflix today, and follows the students as they graduate from high school.

We're expecting the seven year time jump to kick in by next week's installment.

Creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa celebrated the characters' graduation in an Instagram post ahead of the episode.

He wrote, 'Today’s a big day in #Riverdale.'

'As excited/nervous as I was for my own high school graduation waaaay too many years ago.'

'Somehow, this one means more.'

'Not all of our characters survived to make it to graduation.'

'Not all of the actors we wanted to come back were able to for various reasons (including Covid).'

Roberto continued, 'But so grateful to everyone in this picture.'

'And to many more who aren’t in the picture, but we’ll be seeing soon.'

The CW's latest announcement

Riverdale is just one of the many shows the network is renewing.

The Flash, Batwoman, Legacies, Dynasty, Charmed, and loads more have been given another run.

In a statement, The CW's Mark Pedowitz explained why they decided to announce the renewals so soon.

As quoted by Digital Spy, he said, 'we wanted to get a strategic head start on next season with these early renewals.'

'[This] allows our production teams to start laying out story arcs and hiring staff, and at the same time, continues to provide us with a strong, stable schedule to build on for next season.'
