Riverdale

After a mid-season hiatus, Riverdale is finally returning to our screens this week.

A teaser for the upcoming episodes has been released and things are getting pretty intense.

The video opens with Cheryl's mother Penelope announcing, "I had a revelation."

"So you've lost your mind," her daughter concludes in response.

Then, suddenly, trippy scenes of Betty dancing in a blue room appear on screen.

"Okay, now I'm worried," Casey tells Archie and his uncle Frank.

Later in the trailer, Tabatha appears on the phone to someone, "I can't find Jughead," she says.

The camera skips to a clip of Jughead passed out on the ground somewhere.

In another scene, Archie is lying on the ground as somebody points a gun at him.

With blood streaming down his nose, he yells, "It's me! Don't shoot!"

The teaser ends with a car driving full speed at Pop's Diner.

Season 5

Riverdale season five kicked off in January, with new episodes released weekly.

A couple weeks ago, it went on a mid-season hiatus, but fans will be delighted to hear it's back this week.

This latest installment follows the gang seven years after they graduated high school.

They're back in town to save Riverdale from ruin, and of course with their return comes plenty of drama and mystery.

At the moment, we know very little about the upcoming episodes, and what's in store for our favourite characters.

However, Betty actress Lili Reinhart did tease a musical episode.

She tweeted, 'Just going to say... the musical episode for season 5 is going to be so emotional'

This isn't the first time they've done this.

Their season four musical episode was titled Wicked Little Town, and it followed Riverdale High's variety show.

While in season three the students performed their version of Heathers: The Musical in an episode titled Big Fun.

And in season two we saw the gang put on a production of Carrie: The Musical in A Night To Remember.

Episodes usually premiere on Netflix following their release in America.

So we're expecting the series to continue as usual on Thursdays.
