SPIN's Sarina Bellissimo caught up with Irish actor Colin O'Donoghue this week.

They talked about his brand new Disney+ series The Right Stuff, also starring Patrick J. Adams.

Colin plays real-life hero Lt Gordon Cooper in this new series.

He told Sarina he was, "pretty terrified," taking on the role giving the history.

The series is about the first American astronauts.

"It's a lot of pressure... I was excited. I was excited," he added.

Colin and his co-stars were invited to the 50th anniversary of the moon landing in Cape Canaveral.

At the event, the cast and crew were introduced to a room of astronauts, "It was a surreal experience."

Sarina went on to ask Colin about his career and how he deals with rejection.

He admitted, "It can be incredibly difficult, the amount of times I was about to give up..."

"Then you have to realise, most of the time it's not about you... sometimes the director has a specific person in mind..."

"I always kind of say if you really do believe in yourself, it's important to just keep doing what you love."

Colin admitted he was lucky to have the support of his family and his wife.
